This was my first work that could be called a short film. Like many of the best things it was wholly unplanned. Featuring two of my house mates Louis and Calvin, after a certain amount of intoxication. The film starts as we leave Withington, heading into Manchester. It all started when we converted a home made lampshade we had into the mask you see in the film. We decided to head out to Manchester's Northern Quarter. This film is the consequence of that night out. After the first minute of the film nothing you see was staged, it just happened that way. This seems to add a gritty reality to the whole film.

On the weekend of 16th of August 2003, Over 300 teams around the UK took part in the National 48 Hour Film Challenge. To find out more about this competition visit the challenge website. I put together a team for this event and in slightly under 48 hours we had produced this short film. After very little sleep, a great deal of caffeine, a few re-shoots, and a weekend of beautiful weather we had a final cut. This film has remained unchanged since the very end of the challenge. A couple of parts of the film could be easily improved, but we decided to leave it in its genuine form. Credits

Stand up comics, Ben Worthy & Mark Talbot, are regular performers on the Manchester comedy circuit. I made this short film with them to introduce their act at some of their gigs. Just like their comedy this film is an eclectic collection of unusual ideas loosely tied together, always asking more questions than it's answering. Most of this film was shot in a morning, with the exception of the tracking shot of Ben butt naked on a bike filmed a week later. Post production took two days, including getting effects shots of the typewriter. Credits Written & Performed by |

In June 2003 Rachel Hoyle presented her first solo art exhibition in the Atkinson Gallery in Southport. She commissioned me to make this 19min documentary taking you from the conception of the exhibition, to the private opening of the exhibition on the 4th of June. From making the ceramic pods in the workshop to creating the full pieces in the gallery itself, this film shows how this exhibition was made. The documentary was filmed over a month and a half leading up to the opening of the exhibition, and took three days to edit. Credits |
